Open research
We check whole industries and show what we find
We take one industry, check the websites of those we can find in open sources, and publish the result in full — including what the numbers do not prove. Nobody is surveyed and nothing is judged by eye: only what can be measured in an ordinary browser.
The rules we follow
Counted over everyone, not the convenient ones
Percentages are taken over every selected site. Where a figure can only come from the sites that answered, we say so beside the number. A site we could not reach counts neither as having the problem nor as free of it.
We name what we do not know
Every study has a section on its own limits: what we did not check, what could have skewed the result, and which conclusions these numbers do not support.
The draw can be repeated
We record the source, the date, the sampling settings and the auditor's version: the same inputs produce the same list of sites. Re-measuring on another day gives close but not identical numbers — sites change.
No practice is ever named
We publish aggregate figures only, as a separate file. We do not publish the names of the businesses checked, the addresses of vulnerable resources, or any technical detail that could be acted on.
How we do it
One method for every study: where the list comes from, how we measure, how percentages are counted, and where the limits of our reach are.
